Watch for Film and Faith 3 with Fr Malone in January

After the tremendous success of the first two seminars, Fr. Peter Malone, MSC, will return to Manila in January 2009 to conduct the third workshop on Film and Faith, this time with a week-long Film Festival of award-winning Signis films. Film and Faith 3 will be held at the Communication Foundation for Asia on January 17 (Saturday) to the 24th, 2009 (Saturday).

The seminar, which will be on the theme: “The Search for God in Films”, will run for the first two and a half days, January 17-19. It will feature a more serious look at God and spirituality on the first day, a comic view of God as well as a look at portrayals of priests and nuns on the second day and a look at the devil and evil on the third day. Festival film showings will be in the afternoons, 3:30 and 6:00 p.m., from January 20-24, 2009.

Every January since 2007, Fr. Peter Malone has been giving Film and Faith seminars at CFA. The most recent one was a seminar on movies for values education, held on January 12-13, 2008, with the support of Aid to the Church in Need. The first seminar (held on January 15-17, 2007) and the upcoming one are sponsored by Signis.

Fr. Peter Malone, MSC is a former member of the Pontifical Council for Social Communications and was the first President of SIGNIS, the international Catholic body for film, radio, and television. He is an internationally known author and lecturer on film and media education. He is a regular member of the Catholic Jury at International Film Festivals such as Cannes, Venice, Berlin as well as in Asia, Africa, and the Americas.

Slots for the seminar will be limited.
